Welcome to Quaker Peace Centre Website !
Quaker Peace Centre is a Non-profit Organisation dedicated to working towards building a safe, peaceful society by addressing the issues that contribute to a high level of insecurity and personal and institutional violence.
We are based in Cape town, and operate mostly in schools in socio-economically chanllenged townships of the Cape Flats.
We have a historical and ongoing relationship with the Cape Western Monthly Meeting of the Society of Friends (Quakers) and though them, are connected with Quakers worldwide.
PROJECTS
The projects listed bellow are independently run but they collaborate particularly in the Non-Violent Schools Campaign. This project (with its collaborators) takes some 60% of the budget
As change in society only follows changes in people's minds. QPC works as a "change agent" trying to change attitudes, prejudices and past mental - emotional training. There is no quick fix to changing these in either individual or in society but until they are acknowledged there will be no change.
